Conlons entered Leigh in August 1976, after acquiring Bernard Morris Opticians in Market Street. Demand soon meant that we outgrew our original premises and in 1988, the branch moved to its new larger home in the Spinning Gate shopping centre and was opened by Ken Morley (Coronation Street’s Reg Holdsworth). We acquired the patient records from Showman’s Opticians and Keensight Opticians who moved out of Leigh. The branch was recently revamped and updated, giving us a bright new store, including fantastic designer ranges.
We look forward to welcoming you in the future.
Clare, Paul, Sarah, Malcolm and Joanne have over 80 years of optical experience between them and are happy to answer any questions you may have about eyecare or eyewear or why not pop in for coffee and a chat. We are able to offer a 1 hour glazing service in some cases and we have recently installed a fundus camera to help identify problems occurring at the back of the eye.
In Leigh we are very proud of our achievements; we are one of Conlon’s largest branches. Paul is a member of the Customer Experience Team and Sarah is part of the Group Contact Lens Management Team offering advice to the board. We are currently Conlons Contact Lens Branch of the Year and are winners of the Carl Zeiss award for 2008. We collect used postage stamps for Action for the Blind and unwanted spectacle for use by Vision Aid Overseas. We have, and continue to support North West Cancer Research in our charity work. |
