NHS Entitlement

Conlons Opticians supply glasses completely FREE to those who qualify for help through an NHS voucher.

Simply choose any frame up to the value of £53 and Conlons will supply standard single vision or bifocal lenses at no cost to you.

If you would like to upgrade your frame or lenses to a different style or quality, you simply pay the difference. Conlons Opticians have experts on hand to help you choose the right frames and lenses to suit you and your lifestyle.
  • Qualifying for free glasses

    These are the reasons that would enable you to qualify for free glasses:

    • I am under 16
    • I am a full time student aged 16, 17 or 18 attending school/college/university
    I/my partner receives:
    • Income Support
    • Income based Job Seekers Allowance
    • Income related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Pension Credit guarantee credit
    • Tax Credit and I am/we are named on a valid NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate
    • I am named on a valid HC2, HC3 certificate
    • I am a prisoner on leave from the prison
    • I have been prescribed complex lenses under the NHS optical voucher scheme

    New spectacles can be issued every two years, or sooner if they need replacing due to fair wear and tear.

  • Free eye-test

You are entitled to a free eye examination if:

    • You are aged 60 or over
    • You are under 19 years of age and in full time education
    • You are registered blind or partially sighted
    • You have a complex prescription (Our optician will advise)
    • You are diabetic
    • You have glaucoma
    • You are aged 40 or over and a member of your immediate family suffers from glaucoma
    • You or your partner receive either, job seekers allowance, income support, guaranteed pension credit, or tax credits (meeting qualifying conditions)
    • You have an HC2 form (application forms available from all Conlons stores)
An NHS test is available every two years providing you continue to qualify. You may require a free eye-test sooner if you experience vision problems, or you optician requests an earlier test.
At Conlons we take care of all the paperwork required, leaving you free to concentrate on choosing your new spectacles. All you need to do is make an eye-test appointment and bring evidence of your entitlement with you on the day. Conlons will take care of the rest! Don't worry if you cannot bring the necessary entitlement with you, we will still be able to proceed with your eye-care. Your local health authority may check your eligibility in due course.

There are hundreds of free frames to choose from in all shapes, sizes and colours, so you will be completely spoilt for choice.
 
 
  • Contact Lenses

    Your NHS Voucher is worth more at Conlons. It can be used to pay for your initial supply of contact lenses when you pay by direct debit. Students and children (under 19 in full time education) receive an additional 20% discount.
