Most of the people employed in an optician’s are optical advisors. This role includes reception work and administration as well as assisting the optometrist with diagnostic tests (pre-screening such as checking your peripheral vision, retinal photography etc). Additionally most optical advisors dispense spectacles with straight forward prescriptions and teach people how to apply, remove, and look after their contact lenses.
