Short-sightedness, also known as near-sightedness, is medically known as Myopia. It is a sight condition where the person can no longer see the distance very clearly. Vision becomes blurred and people often have to wear corrective glasses, contact lenses or have eye surgery to see clearly again. People with myopia need to have their eye sight checked often as having hindered vision makes a lot of activities very dangerous to do, such as driving. The cause of myopia is either because the eyeball is too long or the front of it (the cornea) is too curved (too powerful) which causes light entering the eye from a distance to be focused in front of the retina. |
