Our Philosophy
Company History
Founded in 1882 by Bernard Conlon the family firm had branches in the Liverpool area the oldest of which was at 22 Mount Pleasant and is still now used as an administration centre for the group.
In 1970 Bernard’s great grandson, Mike Barton became an optician and stepped into the role of managing director. Mike moved the business forward and decided to expand the company. New branches were opened throughout Merseyside, then into Greater Manchester and later further North to the Lake District and South West Scotland. Conlons was the innovator for contact lenses in the North and in the early 80s promoted daily disposable contact lenses which are now accepted as the most comfortable option in the marketplace.
More recently Conlons branches have undergone a complete refurbishment programme which includes technical equipment to make them state of the art and more comfortable air conditioned surroundings to promote a pleasant and comfortable shopping experience.
