We are now able to offer contact lenses to almost everyone, even those who have been told that they were not suitable in the past. If like 40% of our customers you have astigmatism we are now almost certain to be able to offer a lens specially design for you. Contact lenses for astigmatism come in 4 different types:

Standard lenses:
Designed to be taken out at night, cleaned and stored ready and fresh to wear the next day.

Daily disposable lenses:
These lenses are worn during the day and thrown away at night. Then you simply put a fresh new pair in the next day (no contact lens solutions are required). 

Continuous wear lenses:
You can keep these lenses in for up to 30 days and nights before taking them out and replacing them with a fresh, new pair. The ultimate in convenience.

Special lenses:
Our contact lens opticians are experts and can create specialist lenses for even the most complex prescriptions. We make bespoke special soft toric lenses to order. Gas permeable lenses are the original answer to astigmatism, they take a few weeks to adapt to as they are not as comfortable as the flexible soft lens options above.

Choosing contact lenses for astigmatism
Our expert contact lens opticians have a reputation for being able to fit contact lenses for people who have the most complex astigmatic prescriptions. Astigmatism means that your eye is shaped like the side of a rugby ball rather than a football and your vision can’t be corrected using standard lenses.

Lenses that correct astigmatism are known as torics. Until recently these lenses were expensive, uncomfortable and frankly didn’t provide very good vision compared with glasses for many people. Advances in technology have changed all that and they are now comfortable, more affordable and suitable for more people than ever before.
