Our contact lens experts will offer a small selection of lenses that suit you and your needs. They can select from the hundreds of lenses available in millions of individual specifications – not just what is in stock or what is on offer. Whatever your prescription you will most likely have a choice of daily disposable, reusable disposable or planned replacement lenses, and within each category you will have a choice of brand and performance.
To make your choice easy, with your help, your contact lens optician will take into account your prescription needs and your lifestyle to narrow down the options for you to select from. There are lenses for every budget, every lifestyle and every prescription these days so, unlike even a few years ago, virtually everyone is now suitable for contact lenses.
We believe our Mirage Brand Contact Lenses offer the best quality for money, plus we offer a full range of premium quality and standard contact lens options too, as well as specialist lenses such as gas permeable and other made to order lenses.
Lens types (by wearing schedule and lens material)
Daily Disposable Lenses
Daily disposables like Mirage Synergy 1-Day are worn for a day then thrown away. With no cleaning or disinfection required they are the most convenient and hygienic lenses available with fresh, new, sterile lenses every day.
Reusable Disposable Lenses
Reusable lenses such as Mirage Synergy UV+ are typically taken out each night, cleaned and disinfected ready to wear the next day. The latest generation silicone hydrogel lenses allow more oxygen through for healthier whiter eyes. Some, for example Mirage Day & Night, are also licensed to be worn continuously for 3 to 30 days including sleeping in them.
Planned replacement lenses (including gas permeable)
Tailor-made to order lenses, replaced at 3, 6 or 12 month intervals are the only option for 5 to 10 percent of people who aren't within range for disposables. In general terms they offer no additional benefit over less expensive disposable lenses, so we only recommend them when we have to.
Lens types (by prescription)
Standard spherical lenses
Whether daily disposable or reusable, contact lenses are most commonly worn to correct simple long or short sightedness as historically these lenses have been the most readily available.
Toric lenses for astigmatism
Most spectacle wearers have astigmatism and toric contact lenses are fast becoming the most popular with a huge selection of toric daily and reusable disposable lenses now available.
Multifocal contact lenses
At the age of 20 around 1 in 4 of us wear specs, rising to over 95% by the age of 60 because of the onset of presbyopia in our 40s when we need extra help to see detail close up. New designs of multifocal contact lenses, including ones that also correct astigmatism, have made contact lenses a possibility for everyone who wears glasses. These lenses are amongst our most popular amongst clients trying contact lenses for the first time and with a little adaptation almost always successful.
